Irish Heritage Foundation – “Outstanding Innovation Award” Performances at New York’s The Chautauqua Institute Appearances on PBS and NPR “Vermont’s hardest working folk group.” “…sidestepping pretension and going
for the grit, this New England group gives a lusty
performance, every time.” |
Inspired originally by folk legend Woody Guthrie, this well-known ensemble of four performs Celtic, bluegrass, sea shanties and American folk. They sing, play a dozen different instruments and dance their way through your collective audience’ heart. Howard Wooden with his beautiful baritone voice not only sings but performs on the bass, guitar and bodhran. Mike Lussen is an artist on the hammered dulcimer, banjo and guitar. Tom MacKenzie sings, plays the hammered dulcimer, banjo, guitar and ukulele. Patti Casey, the newest member of the group, is a multi-talented musician who adds to the life and spirit of the ensemble by playing the guitar, penny whistle, flute and is a French-Canadian Clogger. An evening with The Woods Tea Company is one of fun and music delights as the ensemble performs with high energy and enthusiasm in a varied program that will appeal to audiences of all ages. Their Educational Outreach is an appealing and informative part of their mission. After building a solid reputation in New England, The Woods Tea Company has continued with their same high standards of performance in all of the contiguous 48 states. They have performed at community concerts all across the United States. The performance selections of The Woods Tea Company, which are announced from the stage, include “Where Am I to Go?,” “The Old Duncow,” “Star of Muenster,” “The Remember Song,” “The Cat Came Back,” “Sink the Cheerio,” and “Rolling Home,” to name a few.
